As Nigeria anticipates commemorating its 46th independence day, an Islamic Scholar has implored the government to eradicate banditry and all forms of insurgencies across the nation before it devours the country.
Imam Rayyanu Muhammad Sani made this plea during the Jumm’ah khutbah (sermon) on Friday at the National Assembly Complex Mosque.
The scholar also urged the populace to demonstrate unwavering patriotism, underscoring the significance of dwelling, emphasizing that individuals should revere the Almighty and take pride in the country in which God has placed them. “Cherish your homeland and take the necessary steps to advance your nation and transform it into a more desirable place. This is paramount.
“A homeland holds immense importance. Possessing a dwelling is fundamental to human happiness. Therefore, having a tranquil and beautiful abode, a harmonious country where you reside, is exceedingly crucial.”
Imam Sani called upon the leaders during the sermon to shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding the lands and possessions of the people. “We urge them to implement strategies to alleviate the hardships faced among the populace.
“We implore them to devise solutions to combat the scourge of banditry, the plague of insurgency.
And we urge the adherents to heed the commands of Allah and His Messenger, as Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has enjoined upon them.
“And we implore citizens to honor their homeland, uphold its dignity, and act as exemplary emissaries of their nation, exhibiting kindness and integrity towards their country, striving to enhance its reputation rather than diminish it or tarnish its image in any way.”
However, after the Jumm’ah khutbah and prayers, the Imam enjoined with the whole congression and pray for Nigeria.
