A leading aspirant for the Anambra Central Senatorial District under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Jerry Ugokwe, has unveiled a comprehensive legislative agenda centred on economic revitalisation, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, and regional competitiveness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ugokwe, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said his ambition is driven by a commitment to good governance, accountability, and reforms that promote transparency and rebuild public trust in leadership.
The former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, also emphasised education and youth development as critical pillars of his agenda. He noted that Nigeria’s long-term progress depends on empowering young people through quality education, skills acquisition, and innovation.
“I’ll focus on quality education, skills acquisition, and innovation, rooted in decades of engagement with students and institutions,” he stated.
According to a statement issued by his media team, Ugokwe also plans to prioritise effective legislation, strategic oversight, and authentic representation if elected.
The statement described the aspirant as a leader defined by “quiet strength, thoughtful leadership, and unwavering integrity,” adding that his approach to governance is marked by listening, reflection, and purposeful action.
It further argued that Ugokwe’s blend of experience as a legislator, diplomat, and scholar positions him as a strong contender in the race, urging voters to consider “proven capacity” over “uncertain promise.”
“With his experience, intellect, and integrity, Ugokwe is the ideal candidate for the job. He has earned the trust of the people, and his vision for Anambra Central is clear,” the statement added.
Ugokwe’s declaration is expected to intensify political activities in the Anambra Central Senatorial District, with observers predicting a competitive contest as the 2027 elections approach.
