The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, FNSE, FNICE, FNIWE, has urged all Nigerians to unite with the government in building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for the nation.
Prof. Utsev emphasized the need for collective commitment, stating, “Let us work together with determination, unity, and a shared sense of purpose.”
The Minister’s call to action was conveyed on Wednesday through a press statement signed by Mrs. Funmi Imuetinyan, Director of Information and Public Relations.
In his message, the Minister expressed gratitude and optimism for the New Year: “As we welcome the New Year, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Nigerians, filled with profound gratitude and renewed optimism for a brighter future.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, I offer my warmest wishes to you and your families for a prosperous, healthy, and fulfilling year ahead.

Reflecting on 2024, Prof. Utsev highlighted the Ministry’s achievements: “Over the past year, we have made significant strides in ensuring access to safe water, improved sanitation, and sustainable water resource management across the country. These accomplishments are the result of the unwavering dedication of our Management team, stakeholders, partners, and the resilient spirit of Nigerians united in the goal of improving the quality of life in our communities.”
Looking ahead to 2025, the Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment: “As we step into 2025, I reaffirm the Ministry’s dedication to advancing water security and sanitation as critical pillars of national development. We aim to tackle challenges in the sector through innovative solutions, stronger partnerships, and a renewed focus on effectively serving our communities.
“Water is life, and sanitation is dignity. Together, we can build a future where every Nigerian has access to these basic human rights.”
