The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has reported a fire outbreak at Imaratus Sanan Hotel on Shari Mansur Street in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, 7th June 2025, around 12:00 noon (KSA time).
The hotel was accommodating 484 Nigerian pilgrims from six licensed private tour operator companies.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, and all pilgrims have since been safely relocated to Mina. The swift intervention of Saudi emergency services and hotel staff was instrumental in containing the fire and preventing it from spreading throughout the building.
In a press statement signed by Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director of Information and Publications, NAHCON expressed deep concern over the incident and assured the public of its commitment to the welfare of the affected pilgrims.
Immediately after the incident, the Chairman/CEO of NAHCON, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, visited the hotel site along with the Commissioner for Policy, Personnel Management and Finance, Alhaji Aliu Abdulrazak, and the Deputy Makkah Coordinator, Director Alidu Shutti. They assessed the damage and ensured swift action to safeguard the welfare of the pilgrims.
Professor Abdullahi commiserated with the pilgrims and directed the immediate relocation to alternative accommodation. He assured them that the Commission, in collaboration with the affected tour operators, would provide all necessary support to ease their discomfort.

“We thank Almighty Allah for sparing lives in this incident,” the Chairman said, adding that arrangements for the pilgrims’ resettlement in a new building have been concluded.
The NAHCON leadership also commended the rapid response of Saudi emergency services and the cooperation of the hotel management in managing the situation effectively.
